Before and After: Sitting Pretty

It is well established that I am not good at decorating.
I'll have a spot or two in the house that looks right, but that's about it.

I'm not very crafty either.
But every once in a while I do have a project that works out well.

We recently moved from a house with a huge patio.
I loved sitting out there.  It was my happy place.

Now we live in a highrise with a patio that is 1/4 the size of the old one.
I still love sitting out there,
but all of the furniture we had on our old patio does not fit.

Since we don't have enough storage space for the extra chair from the set that won't fit, and since I didn't already have an office chair, I decided to use it for that.  But it would not work as is.

Besides the fact that the current outdoor fabric didn't match the indoors,
it had also been outside for years, so I set about trying to remedy that.

I decided on new fabric and ordered it.
I was so excited that as soon as it came in, I sewed up the new cushion covers and new pillows right away.

I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Now what to do with the rest of the house...

  1. That turned out so adorable! I love the material you picked out. I would like to be able to do stuff like that, but I'll have to relearn how to use my sewing machine first. :)

  2. Looks nice. I like the colors. It would look good on my patio. You can send it to Texas if you decide it does not go well enough inside your apartment.

  3. Janae, I have not used mine in 7 years! I'm pretty sure it needs oiling -at least from the sound it was making- but I don't know how to oil it so that may have been my last use of it!

Thanks, Allen. But the chair can only come sit on your patio if I get to come there to sit in it too!

  4. Sounds good to me. I get the best of both worlds...a great sister and a pretty chair...you are pretty too. Looking forward to you and the family coming in December.

I posted a comment on your comment on Roxanne's Wild World. I didn't think she knew who you are. So I told her. Hope you don't mind. Of course if you do mind ...well, sorry it's too late. BTW, good comment from you.
